Survival of juvenile pink salmon during the first year of life, and methods of increasing their viability Materials of fisheries research in the Northern basin

, : Survival of juvenile pink salmon during the first year of life, and methods of increasing their viability Materials of fisheries research in the Northern basin. Murmansk : 34-35

Observations are presented on the effect of predators on juvenile pink salmon in the Kandalakska fish hatchery. Stunted year-old juvenile pink salmon raised in experimental ponds were found to be preyed upon by year-old Salmo salar It is essential to bear in mind that the release of Far Eastern salmon coincides with the intensive feeding of predators. The release of young should be organized at the beginning of the spring warming-up of the water, during the 2nd 10-day period in May. The rearing of juvenile pink salmon in prewarmed water of Arctic Circle fish hatcheries has been justified from a biological point of view. A scheme for accelerating the production of viable young is presented.
