The ADH method for alcohol analysis

, : The ADH method for alcohol analysis. Medd Inst Maltdrycks Forskning 4: 1-28

The ADH (alcohol dehydrogenase) method and Widmark's method give the same result for the content of ethyl alcohol in fresh blood samples from healthy people and from those with diabetes, whereas Widmark's method is not reliable for corpse material. In corpse samples, bacteria and molds, e.g. Candida albicans, Saccharomyces, Escherichia coli and Klebsiella, may give formation of alcohol and thus cause erroneous statements about drunkeness.
