The annulus fibrosus of the intervertebral disc of the newborn cat

, : The annulus fibrosus of the intervertebral disc of the newborn cat. Res Vet Sci 4(3): 454-458

The histological features of the annulus fibrosus of the newborn cat are described, and compared with those of the dog and of man. The results indicate that very little difference exists between the annulus of the 3 species. The annulus of the cat and of the dog is well demarcated from the nucleus pulposus, but in the human subject the junction is less distinct. In the cranial thoracic region of cat and dog a conjugal ligament replaces part of the annulus.
