The ant larvae of the myrmicine tribe Pheidologetini

, : The ant larvae of the myrmicine tribe Pheidologetini. Psyche 60(4): 129-147

The larvae of 13 spp. are described; these represent 7 genera Lophomyrmex, Trigonogaster, Pheidologeton, Oligomyrmex, Erebomyrma, Carebara and Paedalgus. The larvae of this tribe do not constitute a homogeneous group. Nevertheless they are better defined as a group than are the larvae of the Solenopsidini (in which they have sometimes been included) to the extent that at least a few minor characters are common to all the known genera. The subtribes, however, are homogeneous and easily differentiated. Within each subtribe the genera are not easily distinguished. A bibliography of the larvae of this tribe is appended.
