The dynamics of a population of the cabbage seedpod weevil and the development of winter rape

, : The dynamics of a population of the cabbage seedpod weevil and the development of winter rape. Ii Ekol Polskaser A 13(24): 463-489

The development of Ceuthorrhynchus assimilis Payk. takes place on cruciferous plants and is closely connected with the development of these plants. The investigations discussed in this paper were made on winter rape, and showed that 1) there is a distinct pheno-logical connection between the phases of the flowering of winter rape and the course taken by variations in numbers of C. assimilis Payk. on a rape plantation. 2) when the winter rape is in.full flower the weevil finds its optimum conditions for reporduction[long dash]the longer the rape flowers, the greater the damage done by the cabbage seedpod weevil, 3) control should be based to an equal degree on suitable agrotechnical operations on the use of insecticides harmless to bees.
