, : The non- Madagascan species and subspecies of the gecko genus Phelsuma. Senckenber Giana Biol 47(2): 85-110

The genus Phelsuma has had its center of distribution on Madagascar, where there are about 24 spp. This paper deals with spp. found on the islands or island groups of Pemba, Zanzibar, Comores, Aldabra, Seychelles, Mascarenes, and Andamans. Key and descriptions are given for 20 spp. and sspp., including P. abbotti menaiensis (from Menai, on the Cosmoledo atoll), P. cepediana borbonica (Reunion), and P. vinsoni inexpectata (Reunion), with more complete descriptions of some of the other forms. Only 3 of the spp. dealth with here occur in the same form on Madagascar, the others are endemic.
