The structure and anesthetic action of aminocarbinol esters

, : The structure and anesthetic action of aminocarbinol esters. Dokl Akad Nauk Sssr 154(6): 1409-1411

Among the aminocarbinol esters studied, a specific combination of radicals gives the greatest effect, the so-called "combination effect. " This type of effect can be approached from the point of view of the multiplet theory. It may be that the anesthetic molecules are adsorbed onto the nerve endings and other nervous elements, resulting in blockage of the nerve impulse. For this to be most effective, there must be a structural and energetic similarity between the anesthetic molecules and the protein structures of the nerve endings. The structures investigated conform to the index groups located on the adsorbing surface. The form of the substitutions on the anesthetic molecule must conform to the absorbing surface adjacent to the index group; moreover, there must be a certain surface isomorphism. The nature of the substitutions is also important, since it determines the bonding energy upon adsorption. There is a bibliography with 10 references.
