, : The surface roots of an individual matai. New Zealand Jour Sci And Tech 8(4): 233-234

The matai described occurs in a plece of rain-forest near Feilding, North Island, New Zealand. It is 15 m. tall, with basal circumference of 2.84 m. The surface roots reach a distance of 19.5 m. from the base, the total area covered being [plus or minus]665 sq.m. This is typlcal of the species.
