Therapy with lysergic acid diethylamide

, : Therapy with lysergic acid diethylamide. Journal of Clinical and Experimental Psychopathology 19(1): 19-31

Twenty-three patients, ages 18-64, with obsessional illness and a miscellany of psychoneurotic syndromes were given lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) in varied dosages and numbers of treatments. Twelve patients improved, 9 were unchanged and 2 became worse. The authors were primarily concerned with the induced phases of intoxication and the motivations that succeeded each other in the development and abatement of the process. LSD enabled facilitation of transference phenomena, regression and increase of suggestibility. The psychotherapist was largely instrumental in successful out-come of treatment.
