Titration by immunoinactivation of poliomyelitis neutralizing antibodies after Salk vaccine?

, : Titration by immunoinactivation of poliomyelitis neutralizing antibodies after Salk vaccine?. Riv Ist Sieroterap Ital 36(6): 302-311

A comparative study of the detection of neutralizing antibodies by means of the usual technique and by Gard's immuno-inactivation technique before and after injection of inactivated poliomyelitis vaccine was performed in sera of 80 children between 1 and 3 years of age. The results show that a significant percentage of individuals judged as negative before vaccination with the usual technique reveal with Gard s technique a degree of immunity. Furthermore the antibody conversion rate in vaccinated individuals is greater with the immuno-inactivation than with the usual technique. The antigenic activity of inactivated poliomyelitis vaccines is briefly discussed in the light of these observations.
