What should be done about the resistance problem

, : What should be done about the resistance problem. Proc Florida State Sort Soc 70: 153-155

The fact that resistance to pesticides, exists among some of the economic insects is recognized. Various private federal and state research agencies are devoting much time to the discovery and development of new chemicals to replace those for which pest insects have developed resistance. The use of alternate chemicals is one method of combatting insects that have demonstrated resistance to the chemical or chemicals that had been effective. Particular emphasis is placed upon the practices that will avoid or delay the development by the economic insects of resistance to insecticides.
