, : Demonstration and solubilization of an inhibitor of hepatic cholesterol biosynthesis from rat liver microsomes. Biochimica et Biophysica Acta 369(1): 70-78

1.1. An inhibitor of hepatic cholesterol biosynthesis which is present in hepatic microsomes can be detected in the buffer soluble fraction of an acetone powder preparation.2.2. The solubilized hepatic microsomal factor inhibits cholesterol synthesis in a cell-free homogenate system in a manner similar to the solubilized renal factor previously reported from this laboratory.3.3. The hepatic factor is effective in inhibiting [14C2]acetate incorporation into cholesterol in a liver tissue slice system.4.4. The hepatic factor differs from the principle active in decreasing cholesterol biosynthesis in the fasting state.
