A mortality study of primary tumors of bone in Canada

, : A mortality study of primary tumors of bone in Canada. Can Med Ass J 92(8): 391-393

A 5-year study of primary bone cancer incidence in Canada in order to assess the effects of subsequent increases in background radiation is presented. Eight hundred and twenty-seven cases are investigated, and the annual incidence rate is estimated to be 6.3 per million population. Osteo-sarcoma was the most common type of tumor, accounting for more than half of all confirmed cases. Over 60% of the tumors occurred in males.
