A new method of catching deer

, : A new method of catching deer. Okhota I Okhotnicheskoe Khoz 2: 29-30

A herd of tame domestic deer are fed daily in a corral built of poles and 50 m in radius. After feed has been laid out, the deer are driven through the gate. Eventually the deer will go to the catching corral by themselves at a definite time of day. To effect a capture, a group of wild deer is sought and the domestic herd cautiously mingled with it. After grazing together for hours, the tame deer go to the corral, luring the wild deer. Mounted hunters direct the herd from a distance. By this method, 50 wild punctate deer were taken on the lowlands of the Lower Dnieper River.
