A phytochemical and pharmacological study of Onosma bracteatum Wall

, : A phytochemical and pharmacological study of Onosma bracteatum Wall. Journal of the American Pharmaceutical Association. American Pharmaceutical Association 46(2): 111-114

A dealcoholized, detannated extract of O. bracteatum lowers the blood pressure, depresses the heart and causes vaso-constriction. It has a direct depressant action on cardiac muscle. It relaxes the small intestine and prevents the stimulating action of acetylcholine on the intestine. The drug appears to be useful as a spasmolytic.
