A research on the fungus Gloeophyllum trabeum Murr

, : A research on the fungus Gloeophyllum trabeum Murr. Monogr Bot 10(2): 133-146

The fungus was found on pine wood used in the construction of a heated greenhouse in Siemianice. Most of the construction was destroyed by the fungus within a period of three years. Macroscopic and miscroscopic char- acters of the receptacle are described. The species could be cultivated on maltose agar at temp. 5-43[degree]C, optimum 35[degree]C. Three experiments were done to determine the rate of destruction of the wood as influenced by temperature and by different kinds of substratum. Low temperatures and dry lumber hindered the propagation of the fungus.
