Lipids from oat hulls contain fractions of various polarities. The lipids extractible with difficulty differ from easily soluble ones in that they contain less palmitic-acid and more higher and lower homologues. High-molecular weight fatty-acids (with more than 20 C atoms) accumulate in the least soluble fractions. The fractions extractible with difficulty contain small percentages of fatty-acids with odd numbers of C atoms in addition to common fatty-acids. The percentage is higher in the case of fatty-acids with 20-26 C atoms.
