Acetylcholine content of uteri before and after administration of oestrin to ovariectomized rabbits

, : Acetylcholine content of uteri before and after administration of oestrin to ovariectomized rabbits. Journal of Physiology 95(2): 258-268

The acetylcholine content of the uterus in 4 groups of ovariectomized rabbits was investigated, viz. untreated, 1 hr. after treatment with oestrin, 6 hrs. after, and 12 hrs. after. Acetylcholine was absent in 17 out of 19 untreated rabbits. One hr. after treatment with oestrin 11 out of 13 uteri showed appreciable quantities of acetylcholine. From the 6th hr. on the amt. of acetylcholine was not significant, or absent. Oestrin caused a transient increase of acetylcholine in the uterus.
