Acid phosphatase distribution in the developing embryo of Cocos nucifera

, : Acid phosphatase distribution in the developing embryo of Cocos nucifera. Jour Elisha Mitchell Sci Soc 69(2): 170-176

Patterns of acid phosphatase activity found in the developing embryos of C. nucifera indicate that in young embryos the enzyme is concentrated in the cells of the cotyledonary primordium. As the embryos age, activity appears in the root and shoot primordia and in the vascularized portions of the developing organs. The epidermal areas of the embryos show phosphatase activity at all times. There are characteristic enzyme distr. patterns in the integuments and nucellus in the vicinity of the micropyle.
