An attempt to identify textile fibers

, : An attempt to identify textile fibers. Bol Soc Brasileira Agron 8(4): 391-434

The paper summarizes the identification of textile fibers, and particularly the methods and processes, including microscopy, employed for the recognition of plant fibers. The most frequently used tests and their reagents are given, and also the methods for detection of substitutes in textiles. The botanical, structural, and economic classifications of vegetable fibers are listed, and a transcription of the complete key for fiber identification by Von Honel is included.
