An inquiry into the influence of environment on the incidence of poultry disease

, : An inquiry into the influence of environment on the incidence of poultry disease. Res Bull Nebraska Agric Exp Sta 118: 1-57

An exptl. attempt to determine the acquisition of positive blood titres by environmental contact with bacillary white diarrhea infection yielded negative results. Sanitary restrictions favorably decreased the incidence of fowl typhus, coccidiosis and blackhead. The benefits of sanitary precautions were apparently cancelled by the virulence of direct-contact infection in fowl cholera. The incidence of tuberculosis was not greatly modified by sanitation or the opposite environment. Healthy older fowls showed a marked resistance to avian tuberculosis contact. Numerous tables and charts are included to illustrate the results of the various tests.
