Antimicrobial activity of sulfated mucopolysaccharides from cuttlefish Euprymna berryi Sasaki, 1929

, : Antimicrobial activity of sulfated mucopolysaccharides from cuttlefish Euprymna berryi Sasaki, 1929. Trends In Applied Sciences Research: 1, 97-102

The isolated heparin and heparin-like Glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) from the cuttlefish <i>Euprymna berryi</i> was studied for the antimicrobial activity. The bacterial strains such as (<i>Bacillus subtilis</i>, <i>Pseudomonas aeruginosa</i>, <i>Escheriachia coli</i>, <i>Staphylococcus aureus</i>, <i>Shigella flexineri</i>) and fungal strains such as <i>Aspergillus fumigatus Fusarium</i> sp., <i>Cryptococcus neoformans</i>, <i>Microsporium</i> sp. and <i>Candida albicans</i> present study.
