Apple Rust On Host Tissue In Culture Dishes

, : Apple Rust On Host Tissue In Culture Dishes. Science 70(1805): 126-126

Leaves of York Imperial apples were successfully inoculated with Gymnosporangium juniperivirginianae by placing the leaves in a culture dish over which was suspended a discharging rust gall for 1-2 min. and then transferring to Pfeffer's solution with 1/3 % glucose added. Properly prepared cultures did not show deterioration in nearly 5 months.
