Using transgenic rice plants with 5' deletion <i>Pib</i> promoter fragment-<i>gus</i> constructions, the relationship between the copy number of motif YTCANTYY in the <i>Pib</i> promoter and activity of the <i>Pib</i> promoter and its darkness induction attribute were analysed.
