, : Klinische Notfallmedizin in Osterreich. Intensivmedizin und Notfallmedizin 45(5): 282-286

In 14 hospitals surveyed emergency care facilities are differently named but all are operated by internists, in 64% on an interdisciplinary basis. Ninety three percent of the emergency facilities care for both walk-in patients and patients who are brought by emergency vehicles or helicopters. Diagnostic and therapeutic possibilities differ considerably between these facilities. In 21.5% of the emergency care units maximal equipment is provided. Seven of the 14 emergency facilities are further involved in clinical responsibilities as care for intrahospital cardiac arrest patients and intensive care patient transports.
