Nomenclatural and taxonomical notes on Therinia Hubner, and Asthenidia Westwood, 1879

, : Nomenclatural and taxonomical notes on Therinia Hubner, and Asthenidia Westwood, 1879. SHILAP Revista de Lepidopterologia 30(119): 245-250, 30 Septiembre

A historical review dealing with the taxa Asthenidia Westwood, 1879 and Therinia Hubner, (1823) is given; the subsequent designation of the type-species of Therinia by KIRBY (1892) meets all requirements of the ICZN (1999), and therefore is considered to be available. The genus clearly belongs to the subfamily Oxyteninae (Saturniidae); the type-species of Therinia and Asthenidia are considered to be congeneric; therefore Asthenidia sinks as a new junior subjective synonym of Therinia.
