The French Classification of Child and Adolescent Mental Disorders (CFTMEA) outcomes from psychopathological works which have focused on the specific aspects of child and adolescent psychiatry. It is a biaxial classification which includes a glossary. It is organized on a hiearchical basis. Several surveys have shown that it is widely used by French Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists. The new version (CFTMEA R 2012) presented in this paper ensures an almost total compatibility with the Vth chapter of ICD 10; and brings more complementary items (one complete chapter has been added), while the general organization of the classification is maintained.
