A new myxosporidan Myxidium sciaenae sp. n. (Myxozoa: Myxididae) has been described from the gall bladder of a marine teleost Sciaena bleekeri Day, caught from the Digha coast of Bay of Bengal, West Bengal, India. The characteristic mensural data of the myxosporidan are as follows: spore-19.36 .mu.m .times. 5.32 .mu.m, polar capsule-5.26 .mu.m .times. 2.5 .mu.m. It is the eight myxosporidan species reported from the coastal water of Bay of Bengal, West Bengal, India.
