, : Aspectos morfologicos e biologicos de uma populacao de Gundlachia concentrica (Orbigny, 1835) (Mollusca, Ancylidae) de um acude de do sul do Brasil. Iheringia Ser. Zool. 65: 41-56

Morphological and biological features of a population of Gundlachia concentrica (Orbigny, 1835) from a dam located at Morro Santana, Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul State, Brazil (30.degree.03'45'' and 30.degree.03'50''S and 51.degree.08'06'' and 51.degree.08'15''W) are provided. The work field was conducted from September 1977 to December 1978. New aspects are reported involving the species-environment relationships, information about reproduction and development, conchological and morphological aspects of the population in order to provide data for the definition of the species. It is pointed out the importance of the substrate in the distribution and quantity of individuals of the species. The correlation between the width of the anterior and posterior region of the shell was found to be significant. The period from egg laying to hatching of the offsprings was determined under laboratory conditions.
