Aspects de la dynamique des populations de Donax vittatus et Donax trunculus en baie de Douarnenez

, : Aspects de la dynamique des populations de Donax vittatus et Donax trunculus en baie de Douarnenez. Annales de l'Institut Oceanographique, 561: 55-64

Sampling of D. trunculus and D. vittatus was done every other month throughout 1 yr in the intertidal and the subtidal zones. A biometric study was conducted on the growth-rings and the lengths of individuals. Size distributions of D. trunculus show 5 yr-classes with only 1 early recruitment limited in time. The growth process slows down during the winter. In the D. vittatus population, where 3 plurimodal year-classes can be seen, recruitment occurs rather late and the growth-curve is more regular than in D. trunculus. The original characteristics of each population and a comparison with some populations of similar species at different latitudes in their distribution zone are discussed.
