The aim of this work is to report the jau (Paulicea luetkeni) diet in the earliest day of life. Post-larvae of jau obtained by induced spawning were fed with pacu post-larvae, nauplius of Artemia salina, curimba and aquatics community. After five days of live, five specimen were collected and the digestive tube content analyzed. During the period of study, jau feed on several groups of aquatic animals. The items were grouped in five categories. In the outdoors and indoor tanks, jau feed predominantly of aquatic arthropods and fish respectively
