Diagnostic value of the palmomental reflex

, : Diagnostic value of the palmomental reflex. Zhurnal Nevropatologii i Psikhiatrii Imeni S.S. Korsakova 77(8): 1159-1163

On the basis of a study of the palmomental reflex in 100 children (from new born to 3 years) and in 73 adult patients with organic lesions of the CNS the author makes a supposition of a connection between its appearance and a lesion of the caudate nucleus. The highest level of the CNS related to the mechanism of the formation of the palmomental reflex is most likely the paleostriatum. The appearance of the palmomental reflex was not connnected with the occurrence of other symptoms of the CNS lesions.
