Absence of binding of iodide-I-131 by irradiated human serum protein in vitro

, : Absence of binding of iodide-I-131 by irradiated human serum protein in vitro. Endocrinology 71: 671-672

The protein binding of iodide-I131 in vitro reported by some investigators has been attributed recently to an irradiation-induced change in the serum proteins. In the present study, human serum was irradiated with iodide-1131 alone or with both I131 and Co60 in vitro. No binding of I131 to serum protein was observed after 3-hr electrophoresis of the samples. It is concluded that irradiation of the serum does not enhance in vitro binding of iodide.
