Effect of diet on alveolar bone loss in female ovariectomized rats of different age

, : Effect of diet on alveolar bone loss in female ovariectomized rats of different age. Fiziolohichnyi Zhurnal 49(4): 100-105

In experiments on female rats of different age after ovariectomy we have determined that mineral compound complexes "Vita" No. 1 (300 mg/kg) and "Vita" No. 2 (300 mg/kg) with an increased content of calcium (20 mg/kg) were important to be included into a balanced diet of ovariectomyzed rats of different age to prevent resorption of alveolar bone. Usual diet balanced on calcium (up to 70 mg/kg) was not enough to prevent resorption of that bone. In female rats of reproductive age it became possible only after using an additional compulsory diet, enriched with calcium (20 mg/kg) (complex "Vita" No. 2). In rats of climacteric age after ovariectomy an addition of 'Vita N 1' was enough to get good results.
