XPD helicase speeds through a molecular traffic jam

, : XPD helicase speeds through a molecular traffic jam. Molecular Cell 35(5): 549-550

Helicases and other DNA translocases must travel along crowded substrates. In this issue, Honda et al. (2009) report that the archaeal XPD helicase can bypass a single-stranded DNA-binding protein without either molecule being ejected from the DNA.

For the first trial a mercury-quartz lamp of type PRK-2 was used and Russian White laying hens in cages received 2 exposures of 2 min at 0.6 m from the lamp on one day at intervals of 10 days. There were 2 groups of 750 hens of which one received...

In order to determine whether an EEG early in the course of asphyxia neonatorum is of any more value than the neurological examination in predicting outcome we reviewed case histories of 38 infants with asphyxia neonatorum. The EEG background acti...

Data suggest both presynaptic and postsynaptic changes contribute to activity-dependent long-term synaptic plasticity. We have shown that pairing elevation of intracellular (cyclic GMP), using the type V phosphodiesterase inhibitor zaprinast, with...

Risk stratification models support clinical decision making in acute myocardial infarction (AMI) care. Existing models were developed using data from younger populations, potentially limiting accuracy and relevance in older adults. We describe phy...
